Biz Markie Joins Hip Hop Caucus and Repower American for Clean Energy Now Tour
On the bus (The Bus was Carbon Neutral) went a reverend, a doctor (or at least she played one on tv) some environmentalist and emcee Biz Markie.
The Hip Hop Caucus and Repower America teamed up for a seven city tour reaching out to predominately African-American schools and communities touting the message “Clean Energy NOW”. Throughout the tour they were joined by Gloria Rueben from NBC’s classic drama E.R., Letoya Luckett (one of the original Destiny Child’s members) D.Woods (I think she was on Making the Band) and a number of other celebs you may not have thought cared about climate change and clean energy.
The tour also hit up environmental justice communities (aka the hood) Green Jobs Training programs and a few Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Today the tour wraps up with a rally at Capitol Hill. Special invited speakers include Lisa Jackson, Congressman Andre Carson of Indianapolis, Indiana, Members of Black Youth Vote and Checktheweather co-founder Kari Fulton
