Check out the talented artists and activists out of Detroit, Michigan, Invincible and Wajeed, in their new video. The video is a huge shout out to the city of Detroit, and the amazing work they're doing through the Detroit Summer youth program. There's also some beautiful clips from the US Social Forum at the end! While I was in Detroit for the Social Forum, one of the most powerful experiences was seeing the creativity and the energy in the community organizing, and how the community's work for years had turned crisis into opportunity. Much love to Detroit Summer and the rest of the city. It was a pleasure to be a guest in your home.

Check out the folk over at the Alliance for Climate Education getting their flow on. Ummm…. not going to lie the cornball factor for this video is pretty high (sorry Ambessa). HOWEVER, the pure hilarity and good points about people being “Green” but not knowing what that that really means makes it worth watching. Now for me as a geographer, this is like crazy cool stuff, you can use Census data to make really cool maps that determine population, based off of racial identity, and addresses just to name a few!!! Why is this important, well population numbers decide how many congressional representatives we ...

350-400 people were arrested in the first mass protest in Copenhagen today, reaffirming that civil society groups are determined to stay loud and clear on their message for a fair, equitable agreement out of COP15. See this Democracy Now! summary of Week 1 in Copenhagen, which tells a good comprehensive story of what’s going on inside and outside. Featuring Kate Horner of Friends of the Earth.
